How does Kilo Code work?

How much does Kilo Code cost?

When you sign up, we'll give you $20 worth of Gemini 2.5 pro, Claude 3.7 Sonnet, and GPT 4.1 tokens to get started.

We do require a credit card, to prevent abuse (for now, sorry!).
After that, you can buy more tokens (securely processed through Stripe).

Our pricing matches OpenAI, Google and Anthropic's API rates exactly. We don't take any cut, either per token or per top-up. In the future we'll add more LLM providers.

How did Kilo Code start?

Kilo Code started as a fork of Roo Code, which itself is a fork of Clineβ€”the fastest growing and most popular open source alternative to Cursor.

We're building a superset of both Roo and Cline: we include all their features, plus our own. We regularly merge their updates and contribute our improvements back.

Who is Kilo Code?

JP Posma, Justin Halsall, Johan Otten, Sebastian Glaser, Olesya Elfimova, Omar Olivares Urrutia, Kevin van Dijk, Chris Rieckmann, Darko Gjorgjievski, Eamon Nerbonne, Brendan O'Leary, James Burke.

Are you hiring?

Yes, we're well-funded, and still hiring. Email us at hi@kilocode.ai if you're interested. We're remote-first, but with offices in SF and Amsterdam. Expect to work really hard and have a ton of fun.

Why is this website so ugly?

Our goal is to rapidly make the software better, not to have a shiny website.
